Painting the Real World (not sci-fi, space stuff)

Painting the Real World (not sci-fi, space stuff)

As I’ve grown comfortable with the iPad, and painting with Procreate, I’ve found the convenience of painting scenes on the fly a wonderful way to practice rendering from the real world. It’s a good break from the space subjects I’m so find of, and helps me shake off the artistic dust, to see the world from a painter’s eye.

I don’t consider these finished pieces, merely sketches. These were all done while sitting in a pub, a coffee shop in Seattle, and the skyline was sketched after a dark morning commute. I waited until I parked to pull out the iPad.
